De’Longhi withdraws from major appliance category

De’Longhi Australia is no longer distributing major kitchen appliances in Australia and New Zealand with Fisher & Paykel-owned Elba Appliances assuming distribution on 1 June 2020.

Elba Appliances was acquired by Fisher & Paykel in 2006 as an entry-level brand for the commercial sector, offering built-in ovens, freestanding cookers, cooktops and dishwashers.

De’Longhi Australia and New Zealand CEO, Paolo Albertoni said the decision will allow the group to focus on its key core categories including coffee, breakfast, comfort, seasonal and linen care.

“We have decided to exit the major kitchen appliance category with Elba Appliances to assume ownership of this category in the market. We envisage a seamless transition for all employees, retail customers and consumers alike,” he said.

Elba Appliances Australia general manager, Bill Simos said the company is looking forward to capitalising on its heritage and expertise to create new products tailored to the Australian market.

“Elba has produced quality products since 1950, delivering intuitive and beautifully designed appliances to the world. We are excited to be continuing the strong presence and long history of De’Longhi’s major domestic appliance category in the Australian market.

“This category will include products such as built-in ovens, freestanding cookers, rangehoods and dishwashers. We will continue to support our retail partners with the same dedicated team, who together have over 30 years of experience in the major appliances industry.”
