Ring video doorbell poses fire risk

The Ring Video Doorbell 2nd Generation in Satin Nickel and Venetian Bronze has been recalled due to the risk of fire or serious injury.

If the wrong screws are used to install the doorbell to the mounting bracket, the lithium battery may be damaged resulting in fire or injury risk.

If the Ring Video Doorbell has not been installed correctly or moved or reinstalled after charging, consumers should carefully follow the steps in the updated user manual or the Ring app. If the doorbell has been installed correctly, consumers are not required to do anything.

If consumers have experienced any issues when installing their device, they should contact Ring Customer Support on 1300 205 983 or 02 8294 9169.

In a statement shared with Appliance Retailer, Ring said: “The safety of our customers is our top priority. We have and continue to work cooperatively with the CPSC on this issue. We have contacted customers who purchased a Ring Video Doorbell 2nd Gen to ensure they received the updated user manual and follow the device installation instructions. Customers do not need to return their devices.”

The Ring Video Doorbell 2nd Gen is currently sold in stores and online via Amazon Australia, Bing Lee, Bunnings, eBay, Harvey Norman, JB Hi-Fi, Officeworks, and The Good Guys.
